Welcome to David’s

The bistro tradition, kept faithfully.

The first bistros were family-run neighbourhood places — great food, local wine, fair prices, and the same faces behind the bar every night.

Think escargot, pâté, duck confit and beef bourguignon, a glass of something good and, of course, pastis. At David’s we have stayed true to that: the owners are always on site, the prix fixe is on the blackboard, there are many wines by the glass, and the cooking is consistent. Add the service and the friendships built with our guests over the years — the lifeline of any bistro.

The Family

Natalie & Ben, and Chef Elvis.

David’s daughter took the reins in 2021 — the same welcome, the same standards.

David Chapman opened the bistro in 1998 after 18 years as chef, then chef-owner, of Anthony’s Seafood Bistro. In 2021 his daughter Natalie — a familiar face at the bistro for years — and her husband Ben took over.

With long-time Chef Elvis in the kitchen, they hold to the standards David set in food, wine and service, and to the comfortable, welcoming room that keeps London coming back.

The Wine

Many wines by the glass.

An extensive, sensibly priced list with chalkboard additions — so the wine lover is always well taken care of.

Not sure what to pour with the duck? Ask. Trying something new by the glass is half the fun of a bistro.

Again and again, guests mention the scallops, the escargot and mushroom toast, the crispy roasted chicken and the sticky toffee pudding — the warm, Paris-in-London feel of the room — and staff who know the menu and the wine list by heart.
